Inside Gartner Critical Capabilities Report for Enterprise iPaaS, 2019

Gartner Critical Capabilities 2019 iPaaS

Gartner Critical Capabilities report for Enterprise iPaaS (2019) helps you make an informed decision about where you want to stand in the race to deliver integration projects quickly.

As everyone knows, cloud-based integration (or iPaaS) and Application Program Interface (API) is a hot market. There are somewhere between 120 and 160 companies worldwide that offer products and services in this space. So, the number of API and Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) vendors is roughly equivalent to the number of riders in the Tour de France, the world’s most prestigious and most difficult bicycle race. Besides the size, understanding the parallels between the two groups of competitors is the key to understanding the market.

Parallels Between Tour de France and API/iPaaS Market

Riders in the Tour de France fall into three categories based on where they stand in the competition – The Laggards, the Peloton, and the Breakaway. So too, with vendors in the API and iPaaS market race.

The Laggards – These are the riders, or API/iPaaS vendors, who are unable to keep up the pace. The less said about them, the better.

The Peloton – The overwhelming majority of riders (or vendors) are in the Peloton. The word, Peloton, means in French the little ball. It describes a large group of riders who save energy by riding close together, near each other, but most notably, behind other riders.

The Breakaway – is when a small group of riders (or vendors) with the energy, determination, and momentum successfully open a gap ahead of the Peloton to lead the market.

Five things that distinguish the Breakaway from the Peloton in the API & iPaaS space are:

  1. Tens of thousands of downloads
  2. Thousands of customers
  3. Institutional backing
  4. Enough time for the product to mature
  5. World-class service and support

In the Gartner’s Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Integration Platform as a Service report, we believe that Jitterbit has been recognized as part of the Breakaway because:

Tens of Thousands of Downloads. Since Jitterbit first released its Data Loader for Salesforce in 2010, it has been downloaded 61,000 times, making it one of the most popular packages in the market.

Thousands of Customers. Over 2,100 businesses, non-profits, and governmental entities have paid cash money for the product.

Institutional Backing. Our financial backers include KKR, Autodesk, Primera Capital, Salesforce.com, and Samsung Ventures.

Enough Time for the Product to Mature. Software, like good wine, takes time to reach its full potential. Jitterbit first released the Harmony platform in 2014 and has been enhancing it ever since.

World-class service and support. We offer world-class consulting and even won a Golden Stevie this year for our outstanding customer service.

Of course, Jitterbit is not the only company in the API and iPaaS market that has these strengths. However, only a handful of companies are breaking away from the pack. The question becomes if you are going to bet your career on a product, why not choose a company that actually has a chance of winning the race?
