ALAMEDA, Calif. — May 6, 2026 — Jitterbit, the leader in intelligent automation, integration and accountable AI, today revealed that the era of the agentic AI pilot is over with a reported 78% of AI projects delivering real business value. But despite this tempered success, a striking 95% of enterprises are waiting to scale, held by growing security concerns.
The biggest obstacle standing between organizations and the agentic enterprise is no longer the CFO, it’s the CISO. That’s a central finding of the Jitterbit 2026 AI Automation Benchmark Report.
“Organizations have seen the value; now they just need to scale with AI accountability and security in mind — especially with agent sprawl and agent contamination as real threats to today’s enterprise,” said Jitterbit President & CEO Bill Conner.
Nearly half (47%) say ‘AI accountability’ (encompassing security, auditability, and guardrails) is now the single most important factor when evaluating new tools. For AI-forward “Agentic and Orchestrated” organizations, that number jumps to two-thirds.
Conversely, only 15% of IT leaders surveyed describe ‘budget’ as a meaningful challenge.
Data privacy and sovereignty adding pressure
As litigation and geopolitical activity around data rights intensifies globally, a massive race to build localized data centers is forcing enterprises to fundamentally rethink where their data lives in the first place — giving AI more of a physical footprint.
“With AI models maturing and agents now more omnipresent, where, who and what has access to your data is more paramount than ever,” said Conner.
In fact, agents are quietly accumulating what the report calls “God-mode” access to sensitive databases, with no oversight in place to catch it. AI-generated code is adding to the risk, creating exploitable security gaps that existing tools miss a third of the time.
The shadow AI problem is equally evident from the research. Reportedly, nearly half of corporate AI usage is happening on personal, unmanaged accounts, completely outside IT visibility.
Faced with these mounting concerns, 39% of business leaders have already abandoned custom-build approaches in favor of more tested off-the-shelf agents, a significant strategic shift driven squarely by security anxiety.
Solving unmitigated AI, sprawl and agent contamination

Fast die Hälfte (47 %) gibt an, dass „KI-Verantwortlichkeit“ (umfassend Sicherheit, Auditierbarkeit und Leitplanken) mittlerweile der wichtigste Einzelfaktor bei der Bewertung neuer Tools ist. Bei KI-fortschrittlichen, „agentischen und orchestrierten“ Organisationen steigt diese Zahl auf zwei Drittel.
Im Gegensatz dazu bezeichnen nur 15 % der befragten IT-Leiter das „Budget“ als eine nennenswerte Herausforderung.
Datenschutz und Souveränität erhöhen den Druck
Da sich Rechtsstreitigkeiten und geopolitische Aktivitäten rund um Datenrechte weltweit intensivieren, zwingt ein massiver Wettlauf um den Bau lokalisierter Rechenzentren Unternehmen dazu, grundlegend neu zu überdenken, wo ihre Daten überhaupt liegen — was der KI einen stärkeren physischen Fußabdruck verleiht.
„Da KI-Modelle reifen und Agenten nun omnipräsent sind, ist es wichtiger denn je, wer, wo und was Zugriff auf Ihre Daten hat,“ so Conner.
Tatsächlich sammeln Agenten im Stillen das an, was der Bericht als „Gott-Modus“-Zugriff auf sensible Datenbanken bezeichnet, ohne dass eine Aufsicht vorhanden ist, um dies zu kontrollieren. KI-generierter Code trägt zum Risiko bei, indem dieser ausnutzbare Sicherheitslücken schafft, die bestehende Tools in einem Drittel der Fälle übersehen.

Por outro lado, apenas 15% dos líderes de TI pesquisados descrevem o ‘orçamento’ como um desafio significativo.
Privacidade e soberania de dados adicionando pressão
À medida que o litígio e a atividade geopolítica em torno dos direitos de dados se intensificam globalmente, uma corrida massiva para construir centros de dados localizados está forçando as empresas a repensar fundamentalmente onde seus dados residem em primeiro lugar — dando à IA uma pegada mais física.
“Com os modelos de IA amadurecendo e os agentes agora mais onipresentes, onde, quem e o que tem acesso aos seus dados é mais fundamental do que nunca,” disse Conner.
Na verdade, os agentes estão acumulando silenciosamente o que o relatório chama de acesso “Modo Deus” a bancos de dados sensíveis, sem supervisão em vigor para detectá-lo. O código gerado por IA está aumentando o risco, criando lacunas de segurança exploráveis que as ferramentas existentes não percebem em um terço das vezes.
O problema da IA sombria (shadow AI) é igualmente evidente a partir da pesquisa. Relatou-se que quase metade do uso corporativo de IA está ocorrendo em contas pessoais e não gerenciadas, completamente fora da visibilidade da TI.
Diante dessas preocupações crescentes, 39% dos líderes de negócios já abandonaram as abordagens de construção personalizada em favor de agentes prontos para uso (off-the-shelf) mais testados, uma mudança estratégica significativa impulsionada diretamente pela ansiedade com a segurança.
