How It Works in Practice
There are a number of use cases for combining EDI with iPaaS. One of the most popular is integrating your EDI with your ERP and CRM.
For example, if a manufacturer has a supplier set up as a trading partner, and that supplier sends a PO or an invoice, the data not only goes into the EDI — it’s also fed instantly into the ERP for internal finance processing, expense management and more.
Information flows the opposite way, as well: When payment confirmation is released, it comes out of your ERP and is fed to the EDI, where it can be sent directly to the supplier.
In a similar way, shipment notices or delivery notifications can be sent directly to a 3PL, warehouse or other supply chain partner, eliminating the need to manually email back and forth.
