Technology has advanced to the point where robots can chase people through forests and even learn to make pancakes. So why can’t all of the apps we use every day talk to each other yet?
Jitterbit’s been solving this problem by successfully connecting cloud apps for a long time. We work with many different apps, across all types industries. Now, one of our partners, Autodesk, has unveiled an exciting new solution that uses our technology to connect the numerous cloud apps related to the product design and management process – in real time, as it happens.
Autodesk PLM 360 software is designed to manage the complete product lifecycle for physical products. It has many powerful capabilities, like change management and product visualization, that can be significantly enhanced by various cloud or on-premise applications, from Google Docs and Box to Jira and GitHub – not to mention NetSuite and Salesforce. But until now, there wasn’t a built-in way to easily connect these cloud apps to Autodesk PLM 360 so they interact ad hoc, as events occur.
Today at Autodesk Accelerate, Autodesk announced an “evented web” design pattern for Autodesk PLM 360 that allows users to easily connect data, people, and processes with relevant cloud applications using the evented web – in real time. It’s all done within Autodesk PLM 360 without replacing existing integrations, and it avoids the pitfalls of additional costly customizations, limited one-off integrations, and numerous complex point-to-point connections.
The system works using an evented web model (powered by Jitterbit) that lets Autodesk PLM 360 deliver notifications powered by Jitterbit and prompt actions in other apps instantly. Example actions include automatically creating a new Slack channel when a product is created in PLM 360, logging a bug in Jira when a defect is identified in PLM 360, or creating a customer in Salesforce when one is created in PLM 360. Having instant access to these new integrations will help companies save time, streamline operations, and take all aspects of the product manufacturing process into the digital world.
Autodesk PLM 360 users don’t need to do anything to upgrade – the new evented web features will be included in the upcoming version. For examples of how integration can enhance Autodesk, check out some of our customers, such as Greenpoint Technologies, who’ve achieved remarkable results by integrating Autodesk with other products and services.
There’s a lot of business critical information flowing through the cloud, as well as through on-premise apps, at any given time. This new Autodesk feature allows users to get more out of all of this information, and help each element influence others, ultimately streamlining the product design process and extending the reach of cloud apps. We’re very excited to be part of the project and hope to hear your stories about achieving success with Autodesk PLM 360.
