This past weekend the Jitterbit team participated in the Bike MS: Waves to Wine 2014 event with the Salesforce.com & Friends team. The Jitterbit team raised over $7000 for Multiple Sclerosis, contributing to the over $250,000 raised by the greater team!
And the team certainly earned it, with minimum distances of 92 miles over two days – many completed the full 175 miles! Elevation gain was 2500 to 6000 feet per day, depending on the route ridden. On HWY 1, coming up on Stinson Beach.
Day 1: Starting at the Cow Palace and heading over the Golden Gate Bridge, out on HWY 1 to Stinson Beach then over to Rohnert Park for the overnight – approx. 75 miles. There was also a 100 mile option that day for those real go-getters in the bunch. Likewise, there was also a shorter 40 mile option for Day 1 starting and finishing in Rohnert Park, CA. This day was very hilly and challenging, but also very gratifying! At dawn, about to ride Day 2
Day 2: Headed out from Rohnert Park and into wine country, winding through some great rural areas and wineries in 75 or 52 miles, depending on the route. Rural Sonoma County is beautiful, with numerous rustic barns, cows, and grape rows. Day 2 was an easier route than the Day 1 long route, but still had 2500’ of climbing.
The volunteers at the Waves to Wine event were essential to the ride! They were up earlier than the riders and manned stations that carried water, sports drinks, energy bars and first aid. Without them, we might not have made it!Our very own Viktoria Nevska volunteering with Major Tom!
At Jitterbit, we’ve adopted Salesforce’s 1/1/1 philosophy of philanthropy where we donate 1% of our product, equity, & time to charity. This race was inspiring, as it shows the monumental effort the local tech industry will go through to fulfill our pledges to help others. We hope to see YOU there next year!
In the meantime, if you’re headed to Dreamforce ’14, be sure to stop by our booth(N2117) or check us out in the Analytics Zone in Moscone West! The Salesforce.com & Friends team.
